Are white guard teeth whitening kits similar to what my dentist would offer?
White Guard® teeth whitening kits are used by dental professionals and feature either 22% carbamide peroxide (for sensitive teeth) or a stronger 35% gel to give you a whiter smile in a shorter period of time if your teeth are generally not sensitive.
How many shades whiter can I expect my teeth to go?
When used in accordance with the instructions, you can expect to lighten your teeth by several shades on the vita bleaching shade guide. As everyone’s teeth have an upper limit to the level of whiteness they can achieve individually this can vary from one individual to another. If you reach a shade of whiteness you are happy with before completing the 14 day treatment, simply stop at that point.
Are home whitening kits safe?
White Guard® home whitening kits have been used extensively without extraneous side effects, when used in accordance with the instructions. It is essential to get a good fit when customising the mouth tray, and the section above the gum-line must be trimmed off to prevent gel coming in to contact with the gums.
How long will it take to notice results?
In most cases you can expect to see visible results within a matter of 3 - 4 days depending on how often the gel enabled tray is worn. To obtain good results use daily for 7 – 14 days.
Will the White Guard® tooth whitening kit whiten my crowns/veneers/bridges/fillings?
The carbamide peroxide tooth whitening gel will not whiten crowns/veneers/bridges/fillings. The flour of pumice paste may clean/brighten these non enamel materials.
If I am pregnant or nursing can I use White Guard® tooth whitening kits?
As a safety precaution we would advise against using whitening kits during pregnancy or when nursing.
Are there any age restrictions on using teeth whitening kits?
White Guard® home whitening kits should only be used by responsible adults over 18 years of age.
